PMC, PMK groups clash in Cassicadai
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, MAY 11. In post-poll violence today, Kuruchikuppam,
a coastal village in the Cassicadai Assembly constituency,
remained tense following a clash between PMC and PMK groups.
It is said an altercation among a few persons led to a violent
situation in which acid was thrown by a section of volunteers of
one party at the other.
A number of houses were attacked in stone throwing. Panic-
stricken women fled the village and were staying a few metres
away from their houses.
Six persons, including the one who sustained injuries in acid-
throwing, were admitted to hospital.
The police including the RPF were deployed in strength in the
village to prevent an escalation of violence, a police source
said.
Cassicadai is an important segment, where the PMC and the PMK are
taking the poll battle as a prestige issue.
