A pilgrim's progress
A journey by train over the sea, can you guess where?...
Yes! to Rameswaram. From a small town called Mandapam, we
travelled by train, just floatingon the sea to the pilgrim
centre. When I arrived at Rameswaram, I found that its MSL (Mean
Sea Level) is 2.24 m. It is an amazing fact. We had a bath in the
sea and in the 21 different sacred waters in the temple.
We went to Ramar Patham, a small hill where Lord Ram was trying
to view Sri Lanka. Then we went to Kothandaramar Temple, where I
found wonderful pictures and paintings.
The dreadful news... that the island Danushkodi was swallowed by
sea was heard in the last millennium. I visited the remnants of
the island, the destroyed railway station, school and houses. I
was moved to tears.
My recent journey helped me understand what the value of life.
