TC candidate of Keshpur stays in fray
Midnapore, May 8. (PTI): Trinamool Congress candidate from
Keshpur, Rajani Kanta Doloi, who yesterday expressed his desire
to withdraw from the fray for the Assembly elections, today
reverted his decision and campaigned at the instruction of TC
chairperson Mamata Banerjee.
Doloi went to Keshpur this morning with his supporters for
campaigning under heavy police security, party sources said.
Doloi yesterday told a press conference that he had sent a fax to
M S Gill, Chief Election Commissioner and to Mamata Banerjee
informing them of his decision as he was unable to campaign due
to "coercive measures adopted by CPI(M) activists in collusion
with the police".
Chief Electoral Officer Sabyasachi Sen had instructed the
district magistrate and Superintendent of Police to take strict
action so that Doloi could campaign. Accordingly the officials
rushed to Keshpur with paramilitary forces, who held flag
marches.
