Congress will form Govt.: Shanmugam
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, MAY 6.The Pondicherry Chief Minister, Mr.P.
Shanmugham, today said the Congress-led front would secure
absolute majority in the Assembly elections and form the next
Government in the Union Territory.
There was an overwhelming support from the people to his growth-
oriented government, which had several achievements to its
credit, the notable among them being the increase in wages of
employees, promotion and recruitment of staff without any room
for corruption, he said.
Mr. Shanmugam said he had tried his best to strike an alliance
with the AIADMK, but it did not materialise.
Sonia to campaign on May 8
The Chief Minister said the Congress leader, Ms.Sonia Gandhi,
would address a meeting here on May 8. The venue has been changed
from Uppalam to the 100-feet road near the Rajiv Gandhi statue in
Gorimedu junction, due to security reason.
