AIADMK chief seeks 'justice' from people

By A. V. Ragunathan

SALEM, MAY 6. The AIADMK general secretary, Ms. Jayalalitha, has appealed to the people to help her revive the MGR rule in the State and place the State in the growth map.

During her electioneering at Omalur near here, she touched an emotional chord, saying that in keeping with the saying of Annadurai, she had got the `stout' heart to bear all the injustices meted out to her (by the DMK rule). It was only with the people's support that she had withstood all the trials and tribulations.

Ms. Jayalalitha appealed to the people to render her justice (by voting her party to power) and prove that ultimately dharma, which was overshadowed by adharma, would stand vindicated. The people's verdict was equivalent to the God's, she said, adding that therefore, she had full faith in them and was seeking their support.

Charging that in the past five years, secessionism and extremism had reared their heads, she said that anti-social elements were having a free run in Tamil Nadu.

Ms. Jayalalitha addressed many roadside meetings at Hasthampatti, Pattaikoil, Five-Roads and Omalur. She was greeted by the people braving the scorching sun for more than three hours.

At every junction, her convoy stopped for a while to allow the women to perform `aarathi' . She christened babies at least three places. Some women offered her tender coconuts.
