Opinion poll predicts 'edge' for DMK front
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, MAY 6. A Sun TV-Apt Research Group opinion poll has
predicted an edge for the DMK-led front in the May 10 Assembly
elections. According to a Sun TV release, the DMK front would
gain a vote share of 47.20 per cent that would enable it to win
between 123 and 130 seats in the 234-member Legislative Assembly.
The poll gave the AIADMK front 44.04 per cent and a corresponding
seat share of 102 to 109, leaving only two seats for the others.
Among the `others', the MDMK was given 3.91 per cent of the vote.
The opinion poll was conducted between April 30 and May 4 in 25
constituencies, which were selected to represent the State
electorally. It was conducted by 50 interviewers and 6200
eligible voters were interviewed. The findings had a ``confidence
level'' of 95 per cent, said the press release. A majority of the
respondents rated the performance of the Government ``better''
than the previous AIADMK regime.
