Report on ICBM denied
NEW DELHI, MAY 4. India tonight strongly denied a report of
launching its first 5000-km range inter-continental ballistic
missile (ICBM) in the next eight months with the help of Russian
cryogenic engine. ``The ICBM is neither our project nor our
intention,'' the External Affairs Minister, Mr. Jaswant Singh,
said at a press conference jointly addressed by the Russian
Foreign Minister, Mr. Igor Ivano.
The Minister was commenting on the U.S. Defence Department
magazine Defense News, which stated that the range of Surya -
ICBM - would be enhanced upto 1,200 km in 2003, and eventually
extended to 20,000 km.

Protest against Mcdonald
MUMBAI, MAY 4. BJP activists today threw cowdung at one of the
outlets of the multinational fastfood giant Mcdonald in south
Mumbai, in protest against the alleged use of beef in French
fries being sold by the restaurant.
The action of the restaurant had hurt the sentiments of
vegetarians and also the Hindu community, the spokesman for the
demonstrators, Mr. Manish Phadke, said here today.
``This is only symbolic and if the fastfood restaurant does not
follow the required norms, the BJP activists will demonstrate in
front of all their outlets,'' Mr. Phadke said.
