NDA will form Govt. in Pondy: Ganesan

By Our Staff Reporter

PONDICHERRY, MAY 3. Mr. L. Ganesan, General Secretary of the Tamil Nadu State unit of the BJP, told newsmen here today that the electorate of Pondicherry appeared to have been determined to elect a government by the DMK-led NDA.

He said he had campaigned in constituencies since yesterday seeking voters' support to the NDA constituents. The voters were convinced of the capability of the NDA administration. Hence it would form the next government.

Asked if the BJP would seek ministerial accomodation, if the NDA came to power, he said if we were invited to join the Ministry, we would accept it. He also said the Union Home Minister, Mr. L.K. Advani, would address an election meeting at Uppalam on May 7. The Union Minister of State for Home, Mr. Vidyasagar Rao, would be addressing a meeting here tomorrow.

He said there was chaos and confusion in the fronts headed by the Congress or the AIADMK in Pondicherry, as there were differences in the pattern of alliance adopted for Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu, by the AIADMK and the Congress.

The PMK was functioning as a casteist outfit. If there was statehood for Pondicherry, it would be injurious to the Union Territory in making strides, Ganesan charged.

Mr. Ragu Sundararman, organising secretary of the party, who intervened, said the BJP wanted the present status of Union Territory to continue without change.

Mr. K. Lakshminarayanan, PMC president and nominee of the PMC in Cassicadai constituency, had a meeting with Mr. Ganesan.
