3 AGP workers killed

GUWAHATI, MAY 3. In yet another round of violence ahead of next week's Assembly polls in Assam, suspected ULFA ultras tonight shot dead three activists of Assam's ruling Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and set off a grenade wounding 16 in Nalbari and Goalara districts.

ULFA insurgents stormed into a make-shift AGP election office at Boguribari, a small town in Nalbari district, and fired indiscriminately, killing three party workers on the spot and seriously wounding four.

The police said ULFA militants lobbed a grenade inside a temporary AGP election office near Sankarmath area in Goalpara town, injuring 14 party workers and two home guards.
