DDA members seek probe
By Our Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI, MAY 2. Two Members of the Delhi Development Authority
have demanded an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation
into the alleged large-scale malpractices and corruption in its
Building Department.
In a meeting with the DDA Vice-Chairman, Mr. P.K. Hota, here
today, the members, Mr. Mahabal Mishra from the Congress(I) and
Mr. Puran Chand Yogi from the BJP, demanded that immediate action
be taken against the officials responsible for such a state of
affairs in the department.
They alleged that at several places in the Capital, officials of
the Building Department, in collision with the building mafia had
violated rules and regulations.
``How can a building plan be sanctioned for a plot worth crores
in Paharganj which was meant for a parking lot?'' asked Mr.
Mishra.
``We also urged Mr. Hota to transfer Director of Building
Department till investigations related to all corruption cases
was over,'' Mr. Yogi said. ``He assures us that adequate and
strict action would be taken against all those officials found to
be involved in any corruption case,'' he added.
Both the Authority members said that they will soon meet the
Delhi Lieutenant-Governor, Mr. Vijai Kapoor, in this regard and
press for an CBI inquiry on this issue.
