Camp shuttles to KBA Stadium
BANGALORE, MAY 2. The Indian camp for the Sudirman Cup and World
championship, scheduled to commence at the SAI (South) Centre in
Kengeri on Tuesday, finally got underway at the KBA Stadium here
today. The change in venue came in the wake of the preference
expressed by the players to train at the KBA Stadium which has
all the required facilities. Apparently, the coaches got the nod
from BAI for shifting the venue.
Mr. M.P. Ganesh, Regional Director of SAI, however, said that
there was nothing lacking in SAI. He told The Hindu: ``We too
have all the facilities and were ready to meet whatever the
requirements of the players, but if they prefer to train at KBA,
I can't really stop them.''
The chief coach, Mr. S.M. Arif informed that apart from Aparna
Popat, B.R. Meenakshi and Diju, the rest of the players reported
for the camp. Meenakshi and Diju are expected to join by May 8
after their examinations.
Aparna doubtful
Aparna Popat's availability for the championship in Seville is in
doubt as the National women's champion plans to appear for her
final B. Com exam in Mumbai. Her exams get over only on May 19.
