Support NDA, Venkiah Naidu urges voters

By S. Nadarajan

PONDICHERRY, APRIL 30. The Union Rural Development Minister, and senior BJP leader, Mr. Venkiah Naidu, today urged the voters in the Union Territory to support the NDA in the Assembly poll.

Addressing an election meeting at Saram village, he said this elections would be a fight between dharma and adharma. The aim of the BJP and its allies was to provide a good government. He lauded the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, and DMK president, Mr.M. Karunanidhi, for infrastructural development and promotion of all sections in the State in the last five years. Law and order was maintained well under the DMK rule.

He scoffed at the claims of the Congress, the AIADMK and the Left parties that the AIADMK chief, Ms. J. Jayalalitha, would become Chief Minister despite her conviction in a corruption case.

Mr. Naidu said it was amusing to see that in neighbouring Tamil Nadu, the AIADMK, the Congress, the PMK and the Communist parties formed an alliance, whereas in the Union Territory, these parties adopted a different stand and put together a chaotic alliance. The AIADMK and the Congress were trying to dupe the people here. The Union Law and Shipping Minister, Mr. Arun Jaitley, said the NDA, if voted to power, would bring about a change in development and ensure a stable and honest administration. It would also try to exploit the rich potential in marine, port and tourism sectors in the Union Territory.

Mr.P. Kannan, Puduchery Makkal Congress leader, called upon the voters to support the NDA constituents. Mr.A.M. Krishnamoorthy BJP State Committee president, Mr.K. Lakshminarayanan, PMC leader, and Mr.C.P.Tirunavukarasu, MP, (DMK) also spoke.
