11 injured in Trinamool-CPI(M) clash


Midnapore, April 30. At least 11 persons were injured in a clash between CPI(M) and Trinamool Congress activists during an election meeting at Chenchura village under Keshpur Assembly constituency of Midnapore district today, Superintendent of Police A K Maliwal said here.

Eastern Frontier Rifles were deployed in the village as tension prevailed while 51 persons were arrested in this connection, he said.

Chitta Gorai, election agent of the TC candidate from Keshpur Assembly seat, alleged that armed CPI(M) men had attacked TC supporters and also kidnapped a party activist.

TC has lodged a complaint with Election Observer Kathir Velu in this connection.
