Consumerfed to open 20 more IMFL retail shops
By Our Staff Reporter
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 30. The Kerala State Cooperative
Consumers Federation (Consumerfed) will open 20 more Indian Made
Foreign Liquor (IMFL) retail shops in the State in a day or two.
The Consumerfed had deposited the "kist" for these shops already
and they will function before May 2, the chairman of the
federation, Mr. S. Suseelan, told a press conference here today.
All these 20 shops are being opened by Consumerfed after the
Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation rejected the Government's
demand to open retail outlets to sell IMFL. With the opening of
the new shops, the federation will have 50 retail IMFl shops.
Mr. Suseelan also announced that an additional IMFL retail shop
of the Consumerfed with two counters will start functioning at
Statue to sell premium liquor and beer from tomorrow.
In view of the heavy rush at the retail shops being run by the
Consumerfed in cities, the federation has decided to open two
counters at these shops soon.
To a query, Mr. Suseelan said although the federation had
anticipated trouble while opening the IMFL retail shops, they
were running smoothly.
