26 injured in bomb blast
By B. Muralidhar Reddy
ISLAMABAD, APRIL 23. At least 26 people were injured, two of them
seriously, when a crude homemade bomb exploded in the crowded
vegetable and fruit market of the national capital early this
morning.
According to the police the bomb hidden in a cart exploded around
7.15 a.m. A small truck was destroyed. Fortunately the damage
appears to be limited.
The explosion, second in recent months, should be a matter of
concern to the authorities in Islamabad. Following a similar
explosion in September last year the police had enforced
stringent security measures and closed down a popular market in
the heart of the capital dominated by Afghan refugees.
