Recognition of A.P. adoption agency suspended

NEW DELHI, APRIL 23. The Government today suspended with immediate effect the recognition of the adoption agency, John Abraham Memorial Bethany Home, at Tandur in Ranga Reddy district in Andhra Pradesh in the wake of the death of an infant.

Sixty infants were recovered from the adoption agency.

The recognition of the other adoption agency, Action for Social Development, was withdrawn last year by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in the wake of similar reports, according to an official release.

As far as the second agency was concerned, the State Government has been requested to send a detailed report and the Ministry will take necessary action against it.
