According to the data available with the Securities and Exchange

the five trading days.
On April 19, when the Reserve Bank of India announced the credit
policy for 2001-02, the foreign funds bought equities worth Rs.
483.1 crores while offloading to the tune of Rs. 181.8 crores,
thus making the highest net purchases of the week at Rs. 301.4
crores ($64.6 million). FIIs were also net buyers in equities at
Rs. 188.3 crores ($40.4 million) on April 16 and Rs. 153.7 crores
($33 million) on the last trading day of the reporting week.
The BSE-30 index fluctuated widely in the range of 3621.03 and
3096.51 before ending the week at 3583.04 against last weekend's
close of 3183.77, a rise of 399.27 points. On the debt front,
FIIs were net buyers on April 18 at Rs. 71.7 crores ($15.4
million) while remaining net sellers on the previous day at Rs.
21.2 crores ($4.5 million). No transactions were conducted on the
first day of the week.
The SEBI data on mutual funds for the four days beginning April
16 shows that contrary to FIIs, they were net sellers in equities
at Rs. 43.8 crores.
