Live band joint, pub raided; 24 arrested

BANGALORE, APRIL 22. The Ashoknagar Police conducted raids on a live band joint and a pub on Saturday night and arrested 24 persons.

As many as 10 singers, including six women, were arrested from the live-band joint on Residency Road. According to police, liquor was being sold at the live band joint in violation of rules.

Similarly, 14 persons were arrested from the pub on Residency Road for violation of Excise rules, police said. A sum of Rs.43,910 was seized from the pub. Ashoknagar Police have registered cases in this regard.

Man killed in mishap

A 30-year-old man was killed on the spot after a lorry hit him near Hebbal Tank in Hebbal Police limits at about 9 p.m. on Saturday.

The dead has been identified as Riyaz, a resident of J.C.Nagar. Hebbal Police have taken up a case.

Pirated cassettes seized

The City Crime Branch (CCB) Police raided two establishments in Kalasipalyam Police limits and seized 3,000 pirated audio cassettes.

Three persons, Syed Afsar, Syed Anwar and Venkatesh, have been arrested on a charge of selling pirated cassettes, police said. A case has been registered with Kalasipalyam Police.

Arrested

Gangammanagudi Police have arrested six persons on a charge of gambling and seized Rs.517 from them. The accused were arrested when they were found playing cards under a baniyan tree at Abbagere Dinne on Saturday evening, police said.
