Arya Samaj temple to be rebuilt
NEW DELHI, APRIL 22. The controversy over the demolition of the
nearly five-decade-old Arya Samaj temple in the capital was today
put to rest with the Urban Development Ministry clearing the
reconstruction of the temple at its original site.
The foundation stone for the temple, demolished by the Delhi
Development Authority (DDA) on April 17, was laid by senior BJP
leaders in the presence of Arya Samaj followers. The temple was
demolished as part of the DDA's drive, launched on the directive
of the Urban Development Minister, Mr. Jagmohan. The DAV college
managing committee, meanwhile, claimed that the reconstruction
was cleared by Mr. Jagmohan, who has also agreed to bear the
temple construction cost.
