Harshad Mehta debarred permanently

MUMBAI, APRIL 19.The Securities and Exchange Board of India today permanently debarred big bull, Harshad Mehta from dealing in securities and ordered his prosecution in connection with the 1998 price manipulations in the scrips of BPL, Videocon and Sterlite.

Mehta has been barred from acting as a broker under Section 11 and 11B of the SEBI Act read with regulation 11 of SEBI (prohibition of fraudulent and unfair trade practices for dealing in securities) and prosecution ordered under Sec. 24 of the SEBI Act.
