Makkal Tamizh Desam to go it alone

By Our Staff Reporter

PONDYCHERRY, APRIL 6. Mr. Ashok Anand, secretary of the Pondicherry Makkal Tamizh Desam Party's youth wing, said here today that the NDA had failed to recognise the prowess of his party in Pondicherry and omitted it from allocation of seats to contest in the Assembly polls here.

He said the party had consequently resolved to contest the poll on its own as there were winnable chances in not less than 10 constituencies.

He identified the constituencies such as Cassicadai, Muthialpet, Uppalam, Mannadipet, Mudaliarpet, Bahoor (reserved), Kuruvinatham, Villianoor and Tirubuvanai (reserved), which held promise for the success of the party.

He said the decision of the party to go it alone in the polls would be conveyed to the leader, Mr. Kannappan, and very soon election work would be launched by the party. The party was committed to establishing clean and neat governance, he said.
