Curfew in Nazirabad
By Our Special Correspondent
JAIPUR, APRIL 5. Curfew was clamped today in Nazirabad town of
Ajmer district following violence over alleged damage to a place
of worship. Police fired 15 rounds in the air and lobbed 20
teargas shells before the Army was called out in the disturbed
Gandhi Chowk area this afternoon. Tension prevailed and minor
incidents of violence were reported from at least six other
places in Rajasthan, including the Walled City area in Jaipur.
Prohibitory orders have been imposed in Sujangarh in Churu while
in the other places the situation was brought under control.
As the pattern of the violence was the same at all places, the
authorities suspect a `design'. The situation in Nazirabad is
said to be under control. Senior police authorities and the
District Collector are camping there.
