Sri Lanka confident of winning Sharjah Cup

DUBAI, APRIL 5. A buoyant Sri Lankan team arrived here on Thursday for the Sharjah triangular cricket tournament confident of winning the cup after a morale-boosting win in the one day series against England.

The Sri Lankans may well stretch their winning streak as a beleaguered Pakistan without some of its key players will be under pressure to prove themselves after a humiliating one-day series defeat against New Zealand.

New Zealand has come here with a depleted team with its captain Stephen Fleming and some other senior players taking a break.

``Our team is on a high. The morale in our camp is also pretty high as we are coming out of an emphatic one-day series victory over England,'' Sri Lankan skipper Sanath Jayasuriya was quoted as saying in the media here.

``We have played very well in our last one-day series. We won it 3-0 and the victory has boosted our team's confidence and so we are now looking forward to the Sharjah tournament,'' he said.
