Man falls off vehicle, dies

BANGALORE, APRIL 5. Two persons were killed in as many road
accidents in the City during the last 24 hours.
Police said Ganesh (30), a scooterist, fell from his vehicle on
Service Road near Ganesh Temple off Tumkur Road at about 3.15
p.m. on Wednesday and died on the spot. R.M.C.Yard Police have
registered a case.
In another accident, Lingaiah (53), a pedestrian, who was knocked
down by a private bus in M.D.Block in Malleswaram the same day,
died in the early hours of Thursday. The bus has been seized.
Man stabbed
Four unidentified men waylaid Mr. Linganna (35), assaulted him
with a knife and decamped with Rs.1,700 in cash near Tulsi Park
in the Upparpet Police limits at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police said the victim, who was stabbed on the chest, was taken
in a mobile patrol vehicle (Hoysala) to the Sanitorium Hospital.
He is said to be recovering.
Woman attempts suicide
A woman and her husband suffered burns when the former allegedly
attempted to commit suicide in her house in Netravathi Extension
in K.R.Puram Police limits on Thursday.
Police said Anthony Mary (28) reportedly set herself on fire. Her
husband, Chinnappa, rushed to her rescue after hearing her cries.
Both were admitted to Victoria Hospital with burns. Police said
the condition of Anthony Mary, who suffered 100 per cent burns,
was critical.
