By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI, APRIL 5. As many as 1,000 private clinics and hospitals in the city will administer the subsidised Hepatitis-B vaccine on April 7 and 8.

The programme, organised by a couple of Non-Governmental Organisations and a pharmaceutical company, expects about two lakh people to use the facility.

The vaccine will be available at Rs. 100 for adult dose and Rs. 50 per paediatric dose. The second and third dosages will be available on the same date in subsequent months at the same rate, Mr. Baskaran, a spokesperson of the company, Wockhardt, told presspersons here today.

Exnora Founder-Chairman, Mr. M. B. Nirmal, said that the youth wing of the organisation had distributed over one lakh handbills and had been spreading awareness on the need to get vaccinated against Hepatitis-B in the city. It was also helping in organising the camps, he added.

Over a 1,000 medical practitioners will be involved in the effort with support from the Indian Medical Association, Exnora, and the Lions and Rotary Clubs. The vaccination drive will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both the days.
