CBI grills Verma's son
NEW DELHI, APRIL 1. The CBI has picked up Mr. Siddarth Verma, son
of Mr. B.P. Verma, former Chairman of Central Board for Excise
and Customs (CBEC), and his business associate for questioning,
agency sources said here today.
The sources said Mr. Siddarth Verma and his business associate,
Mr. Rohit Jain, had been brought to the CBI headquarters this
evening where the sleuths of Anti-corruption Branch questioned
them.
The duo owned five companies which included Jubilee Enterprises
and Jubilee Medicare.
The CBI alleged that the two were running different business in
the garb of these companies, adding that so far it was found that
Mr. B.P. Verma had also invested Rs. 20 lakhs in these companies.
The premises of Mr. Verma were raided on Saturday. The CBI
sources said Mr. Verma did not co-operate with the agency and
evaded the questions. The CBI conducted raids at 15 places,
including Mr. Verma's office, residence, the residence of Mr.
Sandeep Shrivastav, Officer on Special Duty, the school run by
Mr. Verma's wife in Delhi and the office of the A.K. Enterprises
in Chennai.
