Hindu group leader held

PATIALA, MARCH 26. The chairman of the All India Hindu Suraksha Samiti (AIHSS), Mr. Sanjiv Bhardwaj, was today arrested in connection with the alleged sacrilege and hurting of religious sentiments of people here last week.

Mr. Bhardwaj, who was absconding ever since the incident outside the Arya Samaj temple here on Thursday, was arrested from near an octroi post on the Patiala-Rajpura road, a police spokesman said.

The police had on Sunday night conducted raids at various places, including Ambala in Haryana and Rishikesh in Uttaranchal to nab Mr. Bhardwaj and another accused in the case. Nine AIHSS activists had already been arrested in this connection, they added.
