Four killed in bomb explosion

BAHARAMPUR (West Bengal), MARCH 24. Four persons, manufacturing bombs clandestinely, were killed in an explosion at a village in Murshidabad district, the police said today.

Murshidabad Superintendent of Police, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, said the four, all CPI(M) cadres, were killed on the spot when the bombs they were making went off at Sekendra village under Raghunathganj police station last night.

The intensity of the blast was so great that it blew off the tin roof of the house, he said.

Meanwhile, a local reporter of a private TV channel while videotaping the bodies after they were taken to the morgue today was assaulted by CPI(M) supporters and his camera snatched, Mr. Kumar said.

Three persons were arrested in connection with the assault.
