NLFT rebels gun down five

AGARTALA, MARCH 24. Two CRPF jawans and three civilians were killed in an ambush by insurgents in Tripura's Dhalai district this morning.

Suspected National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) men, lying in wait in the jungles beside the Assam-Agartala highway at Manu, opened fire on the CRPF men who were escorting civilian vehicles. Nine persons were injured.

The jawans returned the fire but the insurgents escaped. The injured were hospitalised.
