BDA distributes 2,000 sale deeds

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE, MARCH 24. The Absolute Sale Deed Samavesha, an innovative programme launched by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) to distribute sale deeds to the site allotees, concluded here on Saturday.

Nearly 2,000 sale deeds were distributed by the BDA in two phases.

The BDA Commissioner, Mr. Jayakar Jerome, told The Hindu that the samavesha was a big success. The BDA launched the novel programme in July last when nearly 4,000 sale deeds were distributed. It was repeated in December when 800 sale deeds were distributed. Two samaveshas were organised this month, he said.

Officials of the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike and the Karnataka Housing Board, who studied the manner in which the samavesha was conducted by the BDA in the past two days, have decided to conduct a similar programme shortly. Obtaining sale deeds from these authorities has been a herculean task for the people because of corruption and harassment. Officials from Delhi and Tamil Nadu were present at the samavesha.

The Public Relations Officer of the BDA, Mr. Rama Naik, said that the samavesha had helped the Government servants, bank employees, middle class families, the physically handicapped and senior citizens. The BDA, which had issued 12,607 sale deeds in the past five years, had created a record by distributing 13,469 sale deeds in just nine months, he added.
