India, U.K. sign MoU on customs

LONDON, MARCH 24. India and the United Kingdom have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation in customs matters.

The chairman of Central Board of Excise and Customs, Mr. B.P. Verma, signed the MoU on behalf of India and the Director- General of Business Services and Taxes, Mr. Mike Eland, for the U.K.

Mr. Verma said the MoU identified areas of further cooperation and hoped that it would give an impetus to trade. He expressed satisfaction over the ``healthy growth'' of bilateral trade which, he said, was poised to touch £ 5 billions.
