Supreme Court quashes conviction of don
NEW DELHI, MARCH 7. The Supreme Court has set aside a Tada
court's sentence of a seven-year jail term for the underworld
don, Arun Gulab Gawli.
Gawli had appealed through his counsels against the conviction,
the jail-term and a fine of Rs.10,000 for possessing a Sten gun,
in a criminal proceeding initiated by the Maharaashtra Government
under Section 5 of the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities
(prevention) Act read with section 25 (1-a) of the Arms Act.
