College student assaulted

CHENNAI, FEB. 25. A college student was assaulted by a youth, inside the subway near Anna Statue on Anna Salai on Sunday.

According to the victim, she was going in the subway along with two of her friends, when the assailant targetted her from behind. However, the victim quickly recovered from the initial shock and resisted the attack.

The attacker who was accompanied by another youth, escaped when the victim's friends raised an alarm. A case has been registered with Chintadripet police. Incidents of assault, eve-teasing and robbery have been reported in the subways across Anna Salai, particularly near Simpson and Anna Statue.
