Auto bandh today, RTC to run more buses

HYDERABAD, FEB. 23. The Autorickshaw Drivers Joint Action
Committee has called for an `auto bandh' on Saturday to protest
against the licenced agents system, stoppage of registration of
new autorickshaws in the city and Ranga Reddy district and
banning of seven-seaters in the city.
In a statement, Mohd. Amanulla Khan, convener, said a `Chalo
Assembly' rally would be taken out from Charminar at 11 a.m.
Later a `chargesheet' would be presented to the Chief Minister
against the corruption in RTA offices.
Meanwhile, the APSRTC city region has decided to operate 100
additional buses on Saturday for the convenience of people in
view of the auto bandh. The additional buses would be run during
morning and late night hours.
Shuttle trips would be operated from Lakdi-ka-pul, Ameerpet,
Nampally, Koti, Secunderabad station, Dilsukhnagar, Women's
College, Ramanthapur, Khushaiguda, Kukatpally. Additional buses
would also be operated from the Jubilee bus station and Mahatma
Gandhi bus station to clear the traffic.
According to Mr. Ch. Rameshwar Rao, Regional Manager, RTC city
region, shuttle services would be operated throughout the day on
all important routes. Officers and supervisors would monitor the
operations.
