Assembly poll: BJP to field top leaders
By Our Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 18. The BJP will field its top leaders
as well as new comers in the coming elections to the Assembly.
The leaders who are likely to enter the arena include Mr. C.K.
Padmanabhan, Mr. P.P. Mukundan, Mr. P.K. Krishnadas and Mr. P.S.
Sreedharan Pillai.
The constituency-level committees have started the process of
recommending the candidates. The State election committee will
meet on February 20 for preliminary discussions on lists from the
districts.
The State president, Mr. C.K. Padmanabhan, told The Hindu that
the final list will include representatives of minorities and
women.
The BJP spokesperson, Mr. P.K. Krishnadas, said in a statement
that the CPI(M) State leadership should clarify its stand on the
statement of the Kasaragod district secretary of the CPI(M) that
party supporters would vote for the UDF in Kasaragod and
Manjeswaram constituencies to defeat BJP candidates. The district
secretary had admitted in a television interview that the party
had adopted such policies in the past. Such policies, Mr.
Krishnadas said, were against political morality.
