Cong. condemns U.S. attack on Iraq

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, FEB. 18. Mr. Natwar Singh, a senior member of the Congress Working Committee, today criticised the latest air attacks by U.S. and British planes on Iraq and said ``it is contrary to the resolutions of the United Nations'' and ``we condemn it in the strongest possible terms''.

In a statement, Mr. Singh, who is also the Chairman of the AICC's Foreign Affairs Department, said the attacks had bypassed the Security Council's resolution.

``Who has appointed them (U.S.) policemen of the world?'' he asked.

The senior Congressman called for the lifting of sanctions as these attacks merely add to the sufferings of the people of Iraq.
