Securities scam: Charges framed

NEW DELHI, FEB. 17. Big bull, Mr. Harshad Mehta, his brother, Mr. Ashwin Mehta, a former senior official of the Oil & Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) and a former Assistant Manager of the Hamam Street branch of UCO Bank, Mumbai, will face trial in the multicrore securities scam case of 1991.

The Special Court for CBI cases today framed charges of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, abetment and indulging in corrupt practices against the Mehta brothers, the then Member (finance) of ONGC, Mr.V.N. Daothali, and Mr. M.C. Nawalakha, in the case.
