Seeds cruise into second round

CHENNAI, FEB. 12. Seeded players cruised to the second round of the Indian Oil-Servo ITF women's Satellite tennis tournament held at the Nungambakkam Tennis Stadium here on Monday.

Sonal Phadke of India, the top-seed here and ranked 434 in the International ranking list, streamrollered her 14-year-old opponent Ashel Dimi of India 6-3, 6-1 in less than 40 minutes, while Radhika Tulpule also of India, seeded 4, had a few problems in disposing of Australia's Jordanna Seymour 6-4, 6-2.

Sonal was never really stretched by the little girl Dimi at any point of the match expect when she was broken in the fourth and the sixth game but Sonal was always in the lead. Sonal took the first set with a drop shot and the second was no different as Sonal ran to 5-0, breaking Dimi's serve in the first, third and fifth game. Sonal finished off the match in style with an effective backhand down the line.
