"The Hindu Relief Fund" for quake victims

The suffering and devastation of an unprecedented magnitude wrought by the Gujarat earthquake call for relief and rehabilitation on a massive scale. The Hindu Group of Publications invites its readers to join hands in the humanitarian task of raising funds in aid of the victims of this national calamity.

The Hindu Group, with its initial contribution of Rs. 10 lakhs, has set up a Relief Fund to which generous contributions from its readers are invited. The total amount will be made over to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.

Contributions, which will be eligible for relief under the Income Tax Act, may be made by cheques/drafts payable to
