Two Sri Lankans held

CHENNAI, JAN. 31. Two Sri Lankans were arrested at Flower Bazaar
and a hunt is on for their accomplice, who is suspected to be a
former Sri Lankan MP, following the seizure of counterfeit
currency with a face value of over Rs.50,000.
Police identified the arrested persons as Bamu alias Mohammed
Zakaria and Sainulabdeen alias Kiyas.
The DCP (Flower Bazaar), Mr. Shakeel Akhter, who led the
operation said the two Sri Lankans were arrested when they
attempted to change the counterfeit currency near Mint.
Their room in a lodge was raided and the passport of a former Sri
Lankan MP, Mr. Mohammed Hasan alias Mohammed Alawi was found.
Investigation revealed that Mr. Hasan had accompanied the duo.
The arrested persons confessed that Mr. Hasan was a former member
of the Sri Lankan parliament.
Further investigation is on.
