Quake victims condoled

PONDICHERRY, JAN. 27. The joint meeting of the leaders of the
parties constituting the Secular Democratic Front headed by the
Congress(I) today passed resolutions expressing grief over the
devastation caused by the earthquake in Gujarat.
The PCC(I) president, Mr. V. Narayanaswamy, who chaired the
meeting, said the meeting also urged the Union Territory
Administration to rush relief and assistance to the people
affected by the quake. There was also an appeal to industrialists
and commercial sector to contribute generously to mitigate the
sufferings of the people there.
Leaders of the TMC, the CPI,the CPI(M), the AIADMK and other
fraternal parties were among those who participated in the
deliberations.
