Nation is with Gujarat: PM

NEW DELHI. JAN. 27. The Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee,
today asserted that the entire nation was with Gujarat in this
``hour of crisis'' and said the Government was making all efforts
at providing relief to people in the quake-hit areas.
Addressing NCC cadets on the Garrison Parade Ground here, Mr.
Vajpayee urged them to lend their services to the needy. ``It is
difficult to tell the exact number, but efforts are on to
ascertain the toll'', he said. ``Houses will be constructed and
colonies rebuilt in these areas'', Mr.Vajpayee said expressing
his deep sympathy to the families of the dead.
Man had to face the nature's fury from time to time but he was
never cowed down, be it earthquake, floods, cyclone or famine.
Mr. Vajpayee gave away trophies and prizes to outstanding cadets
and directorates. In the junior wing for girls, Niharika Sanjiv
Singh of the Maharashtra Directorate was adjudged the best, while
Amin S. Kittur of the Karnataka Directorate was declared the best
in the junior division for boys. In the senior wing for girls,
Navneet Wasu of the Andhra Pradesh Directorate was chosen the
best cadet, while Nrimal Singh of the Andhra Pradesh Directorate
was adjudged the best in the senior division (Air Force).
The award for the best cadet, senior division (Navy), went to
Shreekanth, while N. Ramakrishnan was adjudged the best in the
senior division (Army). The title of the champion directorate was
bagged by Maharashtra, while Andhra Pradesh was runner-up.
