Budget session from Feb. 19
The Budget session of Parliament will begin on February 19, with the customary address by the President, Mr. K.R.Narayanan, to a joint sitting of the two Houses. The Railway Budget for 2001-2 will be presented on February 26 and the general Budget on February 28. This agenda was decided at a meeting of the Cabinet here today.

Mandelson quits over Hinduja passport row
Mr. Peter Mandelson, the high-profile British Cabinet Minister who allegedly helped Mr. Srichand Hinduja with his citizenship application in return for a one million donation to the Millennium Dome, resigned today as the row escalated into a full blown political crisis as it emerged that contrary to his earlier claim he had indeed spoken personally to the Immigration Minister, Mr. Mike O'Brien, about Mr. Hinduja's case.

The British Prime Minister, Mr. Tony Blair, today said he would review the citizenship application of the Indian business tycoon, Mr. Srichand Hinduja, to ensure it was above board.

Enron allowed bigger stake in Dabhol project
The Union Cabinet today permitted the Enron Power Development Corporation to increase its stake in the Dabhol power project in Maharashtra since the other major partner, the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB), has expressed its inability to pick up equity in the second phase of the project.
