India Blues triumphs

Vadodara, JAN. 12. India Blues, Mumbai (Ashok RUIA, J.M. Shah, Honey B. Prabhakar, R. Krishnan and K.V. Krishnamurthy) won the `Team of four progressive event' for the Dhampur Sugar Mill Trophy with an imposing tally of 224 points in the National bridge championship here on Friday.

Generally, this particular event is marked by close contests, but this time the champion Blue team finished 34 points ahead of Trambak Rubber, Calcutta. Trambak Rubber (H.S. Bajoria, Ajay Brahmachari, Kamal Roy, S. Saha, Sudhir Ganguly and Alok Sadhu), the winner of 1995 National did well to secure the second spot with 190 points.

India Blues, which began with a carry over of 4 points, had an excellent first session, scoring 93 points which was the highest in the entire field in all the three sessions. The team scored 57 in the second and 70 in the third. Trambak Rubber, with a carry over of 3 points, had scores of 66+54+67 in 3 sessions.

The next 4 teams in the order of merit were Mango Bombay (187), Formidables Delhi (177), ARAL's Bombay (176) and SNDMC Calcutta (174).
