Blackout in South Chennai
By Our Staff Reporter
CHENNAI, JAN. 10. Parts of South Chennai including Thiruvanmiyur,
Adyar, Indira Nagar and Taramani were plunged into darkness for
more than two hours this evening following a power failure.
The supply, which went off at about 6 p.m. was restored only
after 8-30 p.m. Residents of the area complained about the time
taken by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) in attending to
the problem.
Citing transformer fault in Thiruvanmiyur as the reason, a TNEB
spokesman said the supply was cut off after ``smoke and spark''
were noticed from a ``relay'' in the sub-station.
