Qureshi to be produced in court today
NEW DELHI, JAN. 10. A city court here today directed that Mr.
Mohammed Hashim Qureshi, a founding member of the Jammu and
Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and an accused in the Indian
Airlines plane hijacking case in 1971 be produced tomorrow,
before it could consider his transit remand for taking him to
Srinagar.
In his order, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Mr.
V.K. Maheshwari, said transit remand could not be granted in
absentia. The accused must be present before the court for any
sort of remand, he added.
However, Mr. Qureshi was arrested and remanded to judicial
custody till tomorrow after his dramatic arrival here from
Holland on December 29.
