Boy foils bid to blow up Rajdhani
DHANBAD, JAN. 10. An attempt to blow up the Howrah-bound Rajdhani
Express from Delhi was foiled when a teenaged boy informed the
railway staff about two bombs planted on the track near here, a
senior Eastern Railway official said here today.
The boy - Halim Ali, a resident of south 24 Parganas in West
Bengal, saw the bombs half-concealed under the ballasts while
going on foot to his friend's house at Bhulinagar, near Dhanbad,
through the grand chord track early yesterday morning, the
Divisional Railway Manager, Mr. Shreeprakash, told PTI.
Ali reported the matter to the nearest railway cabin and the
railway staff promptly swung into action. As a result, all trains
scheduled to pass through the area at that time were stopped at
wayside stations. The Rajdhani Express and Mumbai Mail were
detained for nearly three hours at the Tetulmarhi and Gomoh
stations, Railway sources said.
