Pranab plans protest
KOLKATA, JAN. 8. The West Bengal Pradesh Congress president, Mr.
Pranab Mukherjee, would lead a `satyagraha' and sit-in
demonstration of senior party leaders on January 11 before the
Midnapore district magistrate's office in support of their demand
for a CBI inquiry into the alleged `massacre' at Choto Angra
village.
The former State Congress chief, Mr. Somen Mitra, the party
general secretary, Mr. Manas Bhuniya, and other front- ranking
leaders would take part and protest against the atrocities of
``armed CPI(M) hoodlums'' and police inaction.
Mr. Bhuniya said the incidents had shown that the CPI(M) was
hell-bent on ``destroying the democratic structure and
establishing an autocratic one-party rule''.
