BJP serves show-cause notice on Jain

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, JAN. 8. The Bharatiya Janata Party today initiated proceedings to expel controversial Dr. J. K. Jain from primary membership of the party.

Dr. Jain, who has been an influential member of the BJP known to be close to Mrs. Vijaye Raje Scindia, had created a controversy by serving a legal notice on the Prime Minister a few days ago demanding that he sack Mr. Brajesh Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.

Mr. Jana Krishnamurthy, party vice-president, today confirmed that the Delhi unit of the BJP had served a show-cause notice on Dr. Jain today asking him to explain why he should not immediately be expelled from the party. Two days ago Dr. Jain was summarily removed from the party's National Executive Committee by the party president, Mr. Bangaru Laxman.

Dr. Jain, who owns the Jain TV channel, has been telecasting ``damaging'' programmes accusing Mr. Brajesh Mishra of nepotism.
