Gold ornaments, cash taken away

BANGALORE, JAN. 4. Thieves broke into a house in J.C.Nagar Police
limits in the City on Wednesday and made away with Rs.60,000 in
cash and gold ornaments.
Police said that thieves entered the house of Mr. Karan Singh,
once a top jockey of Bangalore and currently a trainer, by
breaking open the window grills.
The theft took place at Mr. Singh's Nandidurga Road house between
7 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. when his family had been to a relative's
house in Fraser Town.
The thieves had made away with 10 gold bangles, four gold chains,
four gold rings, three bracelets and four wrist watches apart
from the cash. Police, who have registered a case, are
investigating.
Raid
The City Police and officials of the Excise Department raided
four live band joints in West and Central Divisions on Wednesday
night.
These centres are situated at Residency Road and Majestic area. A
few persons have been arrested in this connection, police said.
Killed in mishaps
Two persons were killed in road accidents in the City on
Wednesday.
Mr. Subramanyam (40) was killed on thee spot when a truck dashed
against his motorcycle near the BHEL Circle in Sadashivanagar
Police limits at about 11 p.m. Police have seized the lorry while
its driver is said to be absconding.
In another accident reported from the 100 Feet Road in Girinagar
Police limits, a cyclist was killed on the spot after a lorry ran
over him near the KEB Junction at about 5.15 p.m. The identity of
the dead is not known. The lorry driver has been arrested.
CDs seized
The City Crime Branch (CCB) Police raided an establishment in
Mathikere and seized 1,000 pirated audio and 200 video CDs. An
employee of the shop has been arrested, while its owner,
Ramamurthy, is absconding, according to police. A case has been
taken up under the Copyright Act.
Arrested
The Hanumanthanagar Police arrested a suspended employee of the
Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) on a charge of theft and
recovered 10 stolen bicycles from him.
The name of the arrested was given as Gurulingaiah (50) of
Banashankari 3rd Stage. He had allegedly stolen the bicycles from
Hanumanthanagar Police limits.
